Is GTA 6 Delayed Again? No — Here's the Actual Record
Published 2026-08-28 · updated 2026-09-22
Short answer: no. GTA 6 is releasing November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two re-confirmed the date at its August 7, 2026 earnings call (official), pre-orders have been live since June 25, and the Extended Look that aired August 27 was built entirely around that launch.
So why is everyone asking?
Three things collided this week, none of them an announcement:
- An ex-Rockstar developer’s speculation that a delay of six-plus months was “possible” — a personal opinion from someone no longer at the company, widely re-reported with scarier headlines (reported)
- Opinion pieces betting against the date on vibes and history (commentary, not news)
- A betting market literally taking wagers on “GTA 6 postponed again” — prediction markets measure mood, not information (context)
The delay-history makes the anxiety understandable: Fall 2025 became May 26, 2026, which became November 19, 2026. Twice burned, thrice worried. But both real delays were announced by Rockstar directly, through official channels, with new dates attached — not through ex-employees or betting odds.
Update, September 22
The reconfirmations keep coming: Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson told Famitsu in early September that GTA 6 “will definitely be released” on November 19 (reported — Famitsu interview, widely covered), and Rockstar announced GTA VI: The Album releasing the same day — companies don’t schedule album launches for dates they plan to miss.
What would make us change this page
This page updates the same day if Rockstar or Take-Two says anything — that’s the standard for every fact on this site. Until a first-party announcement exists, “GTA 6 delayed” is a rumor, and we label it that way.
